What is Item Condition Types?
The very nature of the auction process dictates that a range of products in various conditions are offered for sale. At lots4auction.com.au our aim is to ensure that you are satisfied with your purchases and that you will visit our site and use our service time and time again. Our intention is to provide you with as much information as we can about a product and its condition, so you can make an informed decision before you commit to buying a product. To this end, each product is assigned a number of Item Condition Types in the Auction Listing. Examples of these classifications are explained in more detail below.
Please note: All products are limited to supply on hand and we make no guarantee of continued availability. Due to the dynamic nature of the auction business, it is not possible for us to guarantee the replacement or exchange of products that are found to be defective on delivery.
Item Condition Classifications
Brand New Products which hold this classification are new and unused. These items are sold in their original packaging and will come complete with operating manuals and other accessories, if applicable. Note: Some computer products such as hard drives may be provided in a plain outer packaging. These are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) products. This term indicates that the product was manufactured as part of a larger whole and normally supplied to a Computer System Builder. Manufacturer’s warranty is normally valid, although refer to Auction Listing.
Reconditioned / Refurbished Items deemed reconditioned may have been used but have since been tested and found to be in correct working order by the manufacturer, distributor or other technicians. These products are guaranteed to meet all original manufacturer specifications (unless otherwise stated) although some accessories may vary from standard and some elements such as operating manuals may be missing. Generally sold in their original cartons, some products may show signs of wear and the purchase of these items at auction assumes acceptance of this condition. Manufacturer’s warranty may be valid, but refer to Auction Listing.
Resealed Resealed items may have been removed from the original packaging for testing or other purposes by the manufacturer or may have been opened and subsequently returned by the customer, having seen little or no use. In many cases, products will be in their original cartons although some accessories may vary from standard. Manufacturer’s warranty may be valid, but refer to Auction Listing.
Used These products have been used and have not been tested by the manufacturer or the distributor to ensure that the product is in working order. These items are not guaranteed to meet the original manufacturer specifications. Some products may show signs of wear or minor damage and these products are purchased in the auction on an "as is" basis. Used items will not come with the original packaging and some accessories may vary from standard or be missing. No warranty will apply.
Ex Lease / Ex Rental / Ex Govt Products that are classified ex lease, ex rental or ex Govt have been returned to the leasing company or financial institution, or from a Government Department. These products are used and will not come with their original packaging. The items have since been tested for visual and functional flaws which will be stated in the Auction Listing. The products may show signs of wear (including marks and surface scratches) and some accessories may vary from standard or may be missing. No warranty will apply.
Ex Demo Items which carry this classification have been put on display by the manufacturer or distributor prior to consignment to us but may not have been used at all or may have seen minimal use for demonstration purposes. These items are not second hand and have been consigned directly from the manufacturer, distributor or retailer to us. We test all products sold under this classification to ensure that they are in correct working order. It should be noted that some products may show signs of wear and the purchase of these items at auction assumes acceptance of this condition. Products are generally sold in their original cartons however some accessories may vary from standard, for example, the operating manual may not be included. Manufacturer’s warranty is normally valid, although refer to Auction Listing.
As Is, Where Is
This classification is used where an item is sold in its present condition (whatever that may be) and from its current location (as described in the Auction Listing). It is the Buyer’s responsibility to inspect the item prior to bidding and to remove it from its current location within the time frame given. An example of this classification would be a heavy printing press. Is there any Auction Closing Times and Extensions? Auctions usually finish at the End Time stated in the Auction Listing.
However, if a fresh bid is placed in the five minute period prior to the End Time, the auction will enter into a Going, Going, Gone period and the auction will extend until there are no more bids.
There is no limit to the extension time. If there is continuing interest in the item, the bidding continues.
Effectively it mirrors the excitement of a live auction What is Item Watching? The Watch This Item feature allows you to keep a close eye on any auction without having to place a bid on it.
This feature means you can be kept up to date on how an auction is doing and prepares you to place a last minute bid. Is there any warranty on sold items? Some items sold on this website are covered by Manufacturer's warranties.
Please refer to the individual Auction Listing to determine if any warranty is still valid.
How i can pay for winning bids? You lodged valid Credit Card details with us prior to placing a bid and authorised us to charge this Card at the close of any auction where you are the successful bidder.
If you are the successful bidder, you will receive an e-mail after the auction has finished notifying you of a pending charge with details of any additional amounts payable e.g. Freight, Buyer's Premium (if applicable) etc.
We will ask you to confirm the details provided and assist us by ensuring that sufficient funds are available to process the payment.
We accept Visa and Mastercard payments up to $5,000 via Securepay, our secure on-line payment gateway.
Amounts greater than $5,000 must be paid within 2 working days of the auction closing time by either Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or by Bank Cheque.
How much is Services Tax? All auctions held are GST inclusive unless otherwise stated.
The current rate of GST is 10%.
What is Buyer's Premium? Please check each Auction Listing to see if a Buyer's Premium is payable.
The Buyer's Premium will be added to the winning bid price at the end of the auction at the rate shown in the Listing (e.g. 10%, 12.5%, 15%).
For example, if the Buyer's Premium is 15% and the winning bid price is $100.00, then a Buyer's Premium of $15.00 will apply.
The Invoice value will be $115.00 plus Delivery.
What is auto bid (Proxy Bidding)? We use an automatic bidding system that does the bidding for you up to your Maximum Bid.
You just set and forget. At any time you may enter the maximum amount you are prepared to pay and your bidding will be handled automatically.
Your automatic re-bids will ensure you remain in the lead , but at all times your re-bid will only be the lowest required price to achieve this.
For example:
Buyer1 bids $50.00. You enter a Maximum Bid of $100.00. Your bid holds the lead at $55.00 (which is the next set bid increment above $50.00). Your Maximum Bid is only known to yourself and not disclosed to other bidders. Buyer1 enters a fresh bid at $60.00. An automatic re-bid is entered for you of $65.00 (next lowest bid increment point). You win the Auction at $65.00 having set a Maximum Bid of $100.00 which was undisclosed.
This is also known as Proxy Bidding.
What is Buy Now? If this option is displayed in an Auction Listing, you can use BuyNow to purchase the item immediately at the price set without having to wait and go through the normal bidding process.
BuyNow's cannot be retracted.
How I can place a bid? To place a bid, you must be registered, logged in and have lodged valid Credit Card details with us.
Your bid must be at least as high as the Start Bid if no other bids have been placed.
If a bid has already been placed, your bid must greater than the Current Bid and greater than or equal to the next Minimum Bid required.
The Minimum Bid required is set based on the Bid Increment Table displayed in the FAQ section of this website.
You will be asked to review your bid and will also be able to view vital item details such as the shipping conditions before confirming your bid.
To submit your bid simply press the “Place Bid” button.
If your bid is high enough to take the lead in the auction, a confirmation message will be displayed to you. However, if your bid has not taken the lead (be it due to someone else’s higher Proxy Bid, or not meeting the Reserve Price), you will be invited to make a further bid. If I have to Register?
